There are lots of tips out there on how to get started with Google+, as well as the reasons why you should be using it. Well, how about using it effectively so you generate the ROI you need? I did a search of the Web to find the best Google+ tips out there. Want to know how to increase engagement on Google+? Here you go:
Determine your goals
Why are you using Google+? Is it to increase your thought leadership? Improve your search ranking? Find new clients? Once you know why you are using Google+, you’ll have a clearer idea of how to use it.
Decide on a content strategy
Google+ is all about content. Think about the content that you want your audience to find when they conduct a Google search. Start integrating those topics into your blogging schedule, and be sure to share those blog posts on Google+.
Spend time on your profile
If you want people to follow you, give them a good reason by briefly explaining what information you like to share. Oh, and use a great close-up photo of you – not your dog or adorable baby.
Create a circle for those who engage most
While it is helpful to create circles based on who everyone is (prospect, current customers, vendor, partner, etc.), be sure you also create a circle for those who engage with your content the most. Nurture them, as they are most likely to turn into brand advocates.
Share content with everyone
You can certainly choose to share your posts with specific circles, but it is best to share with “Public,” as you will grealty increase your post’s visibility.
Be social
Don’t forget that Google+ is a social network! Use the Explore tab to see what other people are sharing, and leave thoughtful comments that show you read their content. Likewise, join communities and actively participate in them. When you share something, explain why you are sharing it.
Tag your posts
Google+ will automatically add hashtags to your posts based on their content, but you can add more as you like. If you mention someone, use their Google+ name (+ or @).
Include photos
Surprise, surprise – Google+ is a very visual platform. Try to include beautiful photos or images to grab your audience’s attention.
