Pinterest for Business: 7 Ways to Improve Your Marketing

Between the sales-boosting power of buyable pins and the sheer magnetism of beautiful photos, using Pinterest for business has become another great tool for small businesses to utilize to build their brand and increase awareness. But of course, there’s always room for improvement. Try making these basic tweaks to your pins to really improve your brand’s Pinterest marketing.

1. Include more than one product in each pin

Showing off an entire outfit – rather than just the T-shirt – or a few products in one category – rather than a single bowl – allows potential customers to get a better feel for your brand. Bonus: It can also boost sales.

2. Go crazy adding keywords

The more keywords you add to pins, the more searches you’ll show up in. This is especially important to remember when creating Promoted Pins so you can reach more eyeballs (Pinterest suggests 20-30 keywords per promoted pin!)

And of course, don’t forget to include keywords in your profile, on your boards, and in the descriptions of your pins.

3. Add text to images

A little context and a few words can go a long way in engaging the viewer. Imagine the difference a headline like “Our top selling loveseat in new colors!” could make to your sales?

4. Write engaging descriptions

Whether your pin is buyable or not, take the time to write a description that will pull in your target market. Why should they care? What will they get if they click the link – or repin it? Tell them in the description.

5. Mention prices

Be sure to mention the price of the product, or a range of prices for this product line or similar products. It’s another great way to catch people’s attention (“Wow – so affordable!”) and increase sales.

6. Use place pins

A place pin simply means you’re including location information, like a map, address, and/or a phone number in the description below the image. It’s a smart way to increase foot traffic and reach tourists who might not otherwise know about you.

7. Include strong calls-to-action

As with any marketing endeavor, you need to tell people what action to take next. How can they get this product? Why should they get it now? How will it benefit them?
