Twitter Conversational Ads: What You Need to Know

Last month, Twitter announced a new addition to its ads. They’re called Twitter conversational ads, and they have the potential to make a huge impact on the effectiveness of your social media advertising in general (and Twitter ads specifically).

Here’s what you need to know:

What are Twitter conversational ads?

In short, a conversational ads let people engage with and participate in your brand – which is huge.

How does it work?

When you create your ad, include a photo or video (which result in high rates of engagement) along with your CTA buttons and custom hashtags.

When someone clicks or taps on the CTA button, a Tweet composer opens with a pre-populated brand message (aka, a message you write) and hashtag buttons. The user can personalize the message and then tweet it.

After interacting with the ad, the user gets a thank-you note from you. Meanwhile, the new tweet – which includes your original photo or video – appears in the user’s timeline.

Why should I try a conversational ad?

Simple: They’ve worked beautifully for beta users, so they could also work nicely for you.

  • Conversational ads will help people participate in your brand, which is huge. That kind of interaction could really spur lead generation – or even sales.
  • Shared tweets further your brand’s reach and earn you higher ROI.
  • Twitter’s research has shown that organic conversations about a brand deliver significant value for advertisers.

How do I get started?

Unfortunately, conversational ads are still in beta and are only available for select advertisers. So for now, you have to wait.

If you love Twitter and find it works well for your brand, will you give Twitter conversational ads a try? Why or why not?
