Important: This article applies to Web.com® customers only.

Here are a few common questions and answers to help you with your business listings:

Why is Web.com inviting me to manage my Google My Business Listing?

As part of your online listing service, Web.com has created a Google My Business Listing for your business. We invited you to become a manager of the listing.

Becoming a manager of your Google My Business Listing allows you to do the following:

  • Respond to reviews
  • View insights for your listing
  • Edit information
  • Add images
  • Create posts

Important: WebDotComListings1 is the official Gmail account for Web.com.

If I am paying Web.com to manage my listing, then why should I also be a manager?

We want to give you the opportunity to respond to reviews in real time, because nobody knows your business or your customers better than you. This way, you can thank customers who leave positive reviews and respond to any negative reviews and correct that experience. Plus, frequently adding updated photos of your business or services in action onto your listing is a great way to show the human side of your business.

If you would like to submit images on your behalf, please call us at 1-800-311-2707. Or, you can submit images to your listing through the online submission form.

But don’t worry, keeping your page active and accurate is something we manage daily.

Important: In the future, we will create an article that details the submission process for submitting images.

I don’t want to be responsible for managing my page. What if I don’t accept the invitation?

Accepting the invitation just takes a couple of clicks and nothing else is required of you once you accept. It just ensures you have access to your account so you can respond to customer reviews, add photos, and create posts at any time.

If you do not want to manage the page, then the invitation will remain active indefinitely. If you do want to manage your page but did not receive or have misplaced the invitation, then please let us know the email address where we'll send the invitation by following these steps.

Why is Web.com the owner of My Google My Business Listing if I am the owner of my company?

There are four types of admins for Google My Business Listings:

  • Primary Owners
  • Owners
  • Managers
  • Communications Managers

Each listing can have only one primary owner, up to 50 managers. Think of these types as high, medium, medium high, and low. They designate the level of access and ability each user is granted.

By creating the page, Web.com is considered the primary owner, but that is simply a Google term for the person who holds the verification status.

We sent you an invitation to become a Manager of your Google My Business Listing, which gives you all of the capabilities of a listing owner, except for the ability to delete the page or send other manager invitations. This is no problem because you probably don’t want to delete your Google My Business Listing, and you can request that we send Manager invitations to anyone else you wish to have access to your page.

Adding managers allows you to share control of your listing without having to share your personal login information.

Important: Click here for a more detailed explanation of the difference between an Owner and a Manager.

I want you to transfer ownership of my Google My Business Listing to me.

We’d be happy to transfer ownership of your Google My Business Listing so that you become the owner, but unfortunately it will most likely cause your page to become unverified, which will significantly impact your organic search rankings.

If you lose verification status, you’ll have to request a PIN verification code be sent in the mail.
