Simple SEO - All About Google Search Console

This tool assists in monitoring and maintaining your website's presence in Google search results. It gives valuable data and insight into how Google crawls and indexes your website and offers suggestions for enhancing its search engine visibility. When you connect your Google Search Console to your Simple SEO project, you will have access to comprehensive SEO performance reports in your Simple SEO dashboard and Action Plans to help improve your website's ranking on search engines.

Verifying Your Domain
Connecting your Google Search Console to your Simple SEO project requires you to verify your domain name in the Google Search Console. You must complete this step to provide Google Search Console access to the service account email. Select an option below to verify that you own the domain.
- Log in to your Google account.
- Access Search Console.
- Click the Start Now button.
- Select the Domain option and enter your domain or subdomain in the field provided. Click Continue.
- Copy the Text (TXT) record provided.
- Log in to your Web.com® Account Manager and add the TXT record provided. Follow the steps provided in the Text (TXT) Record or Sender Policy Framework (SPF) Records section of How Do I Manage DNS and Advanced DNS Records?
- Once the TXT record is added, go back to the Google Search Console, then click Verify.
It may take 24-48 hours for DNS changes to update throughout the internet.
This option allows you to verify your domain name by adding a verification code to your Site Editor.
- Log in to your Google account.
- Access Search Console.
- Click the Start Now button.
- Select the URL prefix option and enter your domain name in the Enter URL field. Click Continue.
- Click the HTML tag option, then copy the meta tag.
- In a text editor, paste the meta tag and copy the verification code only. The verification code is the last data enclosed within quotations.
- Log in to your Site Editor, then click Settings on the left side of the page.
- Click Google Services, then choose the Site Verification option.
- Hit the CONNECT button.
- Paste the verification code, then click SAVE.
- Republish the website.
- Return to the Search Console Verify Ownership page, then click the VERIFY button under the HTML tag option.
- There will be a pop-up message indicating that ownership has been verified automatically.
Providing Access to the Service Account Email
Once domain ownership is verified, you must log in to your Simple SEO dashboard to copy the service account email.
- Log in to your Web.com® Account Manager.
- Click Marketing on the left side of the page.
- Click the MANAGE button on the Manage Simple SEO card.
If you have multiple Simple SEO accounts, select the account you want to access, then click Manage.
- In the Online Marketing Hub (OMH) dashboard, click Open under Business Profile Progress.
- Click the I have a Google Search Console account option, then copy the service account email.
- Go back to the Search Console, then click Settings in the left navigation menu.
- Click Users and permissions.
- Hit the ADD USER button.
- Paste the service account email in the Email address field, then select the Restricted permission from the drop-down. Click ADD.
- Go back to your Simple SEO project dashboard, then click the VERIFY CONNECTION button in the Google Search Console section. Click SAVE CHANGES.
Your Google Search Console has been linked to your Simple SEO project, and you can now access it in the Simple SEO dashboard.
Accessing Google Search Console in the Simple SEO Dashboard
Follow the steps below to monitor your website's performance on search engines.
- Log in to your Web.com® Account Manager.
- Click Marketing on the left side of the page.
- Click the MANAGE button on the Manage Simple SEO card.
If you have multiple Simple SEO accounts, select the account you want to access, then click Manage.
- In the Online Marketing Hub (OMH) dashboard, click Open under Simple SEO.
- Navigate to the Google Search Console tab.
You can now check the performance of your website in Google Search results.
