Numerous changes have been made in Exchange 2013. One significant change is that the interface is now accessible through a web browser. Our detailed step-by-step tutorial below will simplify how to create CSR with Exchange 2013.

In this article, we'll discuss:

Create CSR with the New Exchange Certificate Wizard

  1. To access the Exchange Admin Center, open a browser and go to https://localhost/ecp in the address bar.
  2. Log in using Domain\\user name as the format for the username and put in the password.
  3. Select the link to Servers in the left column, then select Certificates at the top right, and finally click on the "+" symbol.

  4. The new exchange certificate wizard will be shown in a pop-up window.
  5. Choose the option to Create a request for a certificate from a certification authority.
  6. In the field for the friendly name, input a name that you will use to identify this certificate in the future. Remember that this name is not a crucial part of your certificate request.
  7. You may check the box and enter the root domain name if you are generating the CSR for a wildcard. Otherwise, proceed to the next screen.

  8. Hit the Browse button and select the server where you want to save the certificate request.
  9. If you are obtaining a wildcard cert, you can skip this step. Select the services you plan on running securely from the list by using Ctrl+Click to highlight the services.

On the next screen, you can review a list of domain names suggested by Exchange 2013 for inclusion in your certificate request. Review these names and add any extra names using the + sign.

  10. Your organization name should be the full legal name of your company. Your department name is the specific department within the organization. If you do not have a state or province, please enter the city information again.
  11. Save the CSR as a .req file by entering a network share path, then click Finish.

  12. You should now be able to open the CSR using Notepad or WordPad. Copy every content of the file and paste it into the online order process.
  13. After receiving your SSL Certificate from Sectigo, you can install it.
