Switching from WordPress to WebsiteBuilder?

WebsiteBuilder is a great alternative to WordPress, and we can help you make the switch. WebsiteBuilder is easy to use and offers a variety of ready-made mobile-friendly templates to choose from. Best of all, our intelligent builder uses a few short questions to create a beautiful, custom website in minutes.

While you won’t be able to directly move your site, we’ll ensure you have everything you need to recreate it in WebsiteBuilder.

Prepare for the switch

  1. Save all your site's written content in text files.
    • Three ways to extract your website's text content
      • Access the web page with the text you want to save. Right-click and select the "Save as" or "Save Page As" option. Choose "Web Page, HTML only" from the Save as Type drop-down menu, name the file, then click "Save."
      • Access the web page with the text you want to save. Right-click and select the "Save as" or "Save Page As" option. From the Save as Type drop-down menu, choose "Text Files." Name the text file and click "Save."
      • Click and drag to highlight the text on the web page you want to extract, then press "Ctrl-C" to copy the text content. Open a document program or text editor and press "Ctrl-V" to paste the text into the text file or document program. Save the file to your computer.
      • Download all images to your computer.
  2. Take screenshots of your existing site.
  3. Note the essential information on your website, such as:
    • Number of pages
    • Menu structure
    • Page layouts
    • Image layouts and captions
    • Typography styles (fonts)
    • Contact forms
    • Colors
    • Links
  4. Create your new site with WebsiteBuilder.
  5. There is no need to update your domain pointer. It automatically configures once you publish your WebsiteBuilder site.
  6. If we do not host your website, refer to How to Manage DNS and Advanced DNS Records for the steps to change your DNS records.
