POP3 vs. IMAP for Outlook 2019 Setup

Choosing between POP3 and IMAP is your personal choice. POP3 setup means you are using one device to access your email. Your emails will be stored locally but will not be stored on the server. This means you won't see your emails if you access your email account from a different device.

IMAP setup means you can access your email from multiple devices, such as your computer or smartphone. Emails are stored on the server, which means you can access messages from any device at any time.

Steps to Set Up Outlook 2019

The steps below will help you set up your emails for Outlook 2019.

1. Open Outlook 2019 on your computer. The image below will be immediately available for customers who are doing an initial setup. If you have set up an email account before, click on the File menu, then click Add account to get to the window for initial setup.
   1. Type your email address. For example: [email protected]
   2. Tick the Let me set up my account manually box checkbox.
   3. Hit Connect.

3. Provide the necessary email client settings. This information will be relevant in getting your emails to work in Outlook. Check the specific incoming and outgoing settings in the How Do I Get Started with POP3 and IMAP? article.
4. Type your password for the email account, then select Connect.
   
    
5. Once you get to this page, it means that the email account has been added successfully. Hit Done to end the setup.
